Theme:

To enrich the child’s understanding of Jesus Christ and the experience of being a part of the Church community. The child will become familiar with the Eucharistic Liturgy and will develop an understanding of the sacraments and the importance of them in our faith.

Objective:

The child will understand that the church is a community for all people who believe in Jesus Christ.

Prayers:

Should know all prayers learned in Pre-Kinder & 1st Grade plus these new prayers:

• Morning Offering

• Act of Contrition

• Evening Prayer

• Prayer before The Blesses Sacrament

Goals:

• God is Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

• Jesus is the Son of God.

• Jesus taught his disciples to love everyone.

• Not loving God or ourselves or others is sinful.

• The Mass is the celebration of the Eucharistic and official celebration of the Church community.

• Jesus changed bread and wine into his body and blood at the Last Supper.

• We receive God’s forgiveness of our sins in the Sacrament of Reconciliation.

• The Pope is the leader of the Catholic Church and governs it in the name of Jesus.

• We experience church most readily in our local parish.

• The story of Jesus is told in the New Testament.
